These popular Louet Single Row Mini Combs are a unique device which can be used for de-hairing and fine fiber combing. After combing, the fiber can be pulled into a sliver or spun straight from the combs. Louet cares about your safety and ensures that the tines of the combs are not sharp.
Also available from Louet are the Double Row Mini Combs. These are similar to the single row but produce a perfect slubless sliver from extremely fine fiber. Both mini combs are light on the wrist. They are made of ash with a lacquer finish.
Valkyrie Fine Mini Hand Combs New, improved design. Available in single or double row. Great for any fiber.
All
maple construction. Handle is a comfortable one inch diameter, comb head is 4” wide.
The tines are 3/32" diameter, 4 1/4" long, polished, hardened steel with a long taper to a sharp point. These tines never need
"straightening." They are flexible enough to take abuse, and still bounce back to their intended
alignment. The tines slant slightly back for the last 1" to the tip,
which helps them pass by each other without interference. Double row combs have 25 tines set 1/4 inch on center, and
single row have a baker's dozen, also set 1/4" on center. Total weight for the
pair is 9 ounces for single row and a little under 14 ounces for the double row.
Now also available in Cherry hardwood.
Valkyrie ExtraFine Combs
Designed specifically for finer, shorter fibers. Same tines as on the mini
comb (above), but even more closely spaced. The 43 polished, hardened
steel tines are 3/32" diameter, 4 1/4" long, and set 3/16" on
center, mounted in an all-maple handle. Tines have a long taper to a sharp point. These tines never need
"straightening." They are flexible enough to take abuse, and still bounce back to their intended
alignment. The tines slant slightly back for the last 1" to the tip
which helps them pass by each other without interference. The combing head is 5" wide with a 4" working width. Handle is a comfortable one inch
diameter. These are only available in double row. Total weight for the
pair is approximately 18 1/2 ounces.
Valkyrie ExtraFine Mini Combs
Similar to the ExtraFine above, but with a 4" wide head and a 3" working width.
Total weight for the pair is 16 ounces.
Valkyrie SuperFine Mini Combs
Designed for combing very fine fibers. These combs are the mini size (4" comb
head, 3" tine area), but with three
rows of tines. The tines are set in poly-resin, which is then bolted to the
maple wood frame. This is done so fluctuations due to the wood breathing will not affect the bond
between the poly-resin and the wood - with the bolt system, the tine head will
always be securely attached, with no wobbling or slipping. Handle is a comfortable one inch
diameter. The 74 polished, hardened steel tines are 1/16" diameter,
3" long, and set 1/8" on center. The tines have a very slight
curve near the tip, which helps them pass by each other without interference. Total weight for the
pair is a little under 17 ounces.
Valkyrie Comb Pad
When this pad is clamped or screwed to a table or bench it allows the comber to keep one comb secure and stationary in the upright position.
Works with all Valkyrie combs. Clamps are not
included.

Peasant Combs
From The Spinning Studio of Vermont, Pat Russo hand crafts these paddle combs
out of cherry wood and polished steel tines. They are not
"hand-held" combs - they must be clamped to a table or workbench to be
used.
As Pat and Robin tell us, "They are a very efficient tool for
organizing fiber, and spinning can be done directly from the mounted comb if the
spinner can bring her wheel close enough to the table or mounting device.
These combs work particularly well on shorter fleeces. They are not
intended for very fine fibers."
Paddles are 7.5" wide and 10" long overall (handles
are 5" long). Polished steel tines are approximately 3.5" long,
3/32" thick and tapered to a smooth point, set 1/4" on center in a
single row 6.5" long. Set includes two combs and mounting
device; please note that you will have to provide your own clamps to clamp the
mounting device to a table or workbench.
