Guestbook, Page 6 [sign] [page 1] [page 2] [page 3] [page 4] [page 5] [page 6] [home] Name: Linda Duryee Date: 06/05/2002 Time: 5:44 AMComments: You have a very interesting site. Thank you for the free patterns, I enjoyed my visit very much. When felting soap, does your customer leave the felt on while washing or take it off? Just curious. Name: Janet Date: 06/02/2002 Time: 5:13 PMComments: I found your site along with some others on the internet. I have had a Gearhart Knitter, that I bought on a household sale, and it works, but I have never had the time to set it up and run it. It was brand new. Nothing is cracked, and it has ribber needles, and the weights,, ect. ect. I tried to do some research on it and got ahold of the granddaughter of Mr. Gearhart. She gave me a lot of information on the family of the Gearharts, and how the greatest mistake they made, was to tell the people that bought the machine, that they would buy all the socks back that they could make, and this is what forced them into bankruptcy. It is a very interesting history. I also have he envelope from the lady who originally ordered the machine and the postmark of the date. .. l925 and the instruction book, and the setting up and unpacking instructions. Also the instructions for knitting Allwear Woolen Hosiery. She also told me that the inventor was Emory J Gearhart, and his son was John R. Gearhart, her name is Julia Gearhart, and I have no idea , if she is living or not. She would be about 75 years old, probably. I was told that there is supposed to be a knitting machine in the Clearfield Pa. museum and one in the US Patent office, and she said she was told there is one in the Smithsonian Institute. I can not verify any of this information, since I am taking her word on it and she seemed very sincere. Looking thru her information, she has told me there is one in the Saint Vincent Catholic School, in PA. and one at Pillsburg Pa. She however does not own one. I hope this is of help to anyone, who has a machine. I thought I was not ever going to find any information on it again. Happy to see all these are in existance, and I bet Mr. Gearhart would be too. I wonder if he had any idea of what he left behind.?? Name: Rita Runquist Date: 05/29/2002 Time: 1:51 PM Comments: I like 3/2 cotton on cones for knitting. But I couldn't see the colors on your page. Thanks, Cathy Name: Ann Busico Date: 04/07/2002 Time: 08:09 PM Comments: Love your website. It was found by an internet friend in a crochet chat forum on about.com. I had a question about locker needles and "she" found this site for me. I wish a place like this exsisted in Salt Lake City, Utah. With all the craft shops here I am surprised I could not find a locker needle locally, but I will be calling you to order several. Just glad to find you....Ann Busico Name: Patricia Blomgren Date: 03/30/2002 Time: 1:29 PM Comments: I love your site and have it bookmarked. I hope to visit your farm someday (maybe this summer!)
