Description
Ramie comes from the leaves of the China Grass plant (also know as Boehmeria Nivea, Chinese Nettle, Chinese Silk plant). The fibers are processed from the leaves much like linen is from flax, then bleached. Leaving us with white, almost glossy, luxurious cousin to linen. Very fine fibers that are soft to the touch. This fiber has been used for more then 5 thousand years in places like India, Indonesia, and China.
For a smoother yarn, try the wet spinning technique used on linen fibers.
Staple length is about 6″. Product of Germany.
